Day 1: Entebbe to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Pick up from your hotel and drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. This is a long drive of approximately 8 hours with a lunch stopover en route. Even though the drive is long, you’ll go through different landscapes including tropical rain forests, savannah fields, and the terraced hills of Kigezi, famously known as the Switzerland of East Africa. Late arrival in the evening followed by relaxation, dinner, and overnight at Gorilla Mist Camp.
Note: There is an option of flight from Entebbe to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. (Flight usually takes about 1 hour from Entebbe to Bwindi).
Day 2: Gorilla Tracking Experience
After early morning breakfast, and with your picnic lunch we then take a short drive to the park offices for a briefing where we meet the excellent local guides and trackers who give a talk on the etiquette of gorilla trekking. We then hike into the forest to a spot where gorillas were seen the previous night and track from there. The terrain is rough and muddy calling for physical fitness. Although the hike is physically demanding, the beauty of the forest and surrounding scenery make the trekking worthwhile.
Day 3: Transfer back to Entebbe
After breakfast, start on the long drive back to Entebbe / Kampala with the memory of the great rare mountain apes. Lunch en route and a stopover at the equator line and Igongo cultural center, arriving late in the evening at Entebbe International airport or your hotel.
