ARUSHA
Positioned halfway between the Cape and Cairo, Arusha has evolved from a modest trading post into one of Tanzania’s key urban centers. Serving as the primary departure point for most safaris and ventures into Northern Tanzania, Arusha sits at the base of Mt. Meru, Tanzania’s second-tallest peak, offering breathtaking vistas of Africa’s highest summit, Mt. Kilimanjaro. The town’s economy thrives on its numerous vegetable and flower farms, coffee plantations, and Tanzanite mines.
Just a short drive from Arusha lies the picturesque Lake Duluti, where visitors can enjoy swimming and tilapia fishing. The area is rich in water bird species, and its surroundings are ideal for leisurely walks.
Covering an area of 137 square kilometers, Arusha National Park is a hidden gem nestled on Mount Meru’s slopes. The park features the stunning chain of Momella lakes, the impressive Ngurdoto Crater, and diverse plains game such as elephants, giraffes, monkeys, and baboons. It’s also home to occasional leopard sightings and lush vegetation, including mahogany and olive trees adorning the mountain slopes.
